Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy in Sydney

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a natural process that can occur spontaneously in a person. The Greek translation of Hypnosis is Hypnos which means ‘to sleep’. During this ‘sleep-like’ process it is usual to feel very relaxed however, hypnosis is not the same as sleep. It is not like an anaesthetic; you do not “pass out” and are not unconscious. Nor do you lose control over your mind or your feelings. You do not weaken or surrender your will to any other person and in fact, your will-power may be strengthened with hypnosis.

Almost everyone can learn to use hypnosis by themselves and benefit greatly from this. It can be safely learned and used by adults, adolescents, and children alike for the good of the person.

What happens during the hypnotherapeutic process?

The hypnotherapeutic process seeks to achieve a heightened focus that allows you to realize positive movement in facilitating a return to good health and mental functioning.

Hypnotherapy may involve a number of different processes and treatments including:

Hypnoanalysis: This is a process that helps the patient and therapist discover the origin of the problem and slowly, steadily and surely remove the symptoms and facilitate the return to good mental functioning.

Hypnosuggestion: This technique is used when the psychotherapist is satisfied that the patient has reached a suitable stage in the therapeutic process and it is appropriate to eliminate, modify or suppress a symptom without causing any further psychological problems

Hypnotherapeutic rest: This can be a useful adjunct in promoting the healing process Would you like to know more?
