My approach to therapy is holistic, integrative, humanistic, client-centred and existentialist. This means that you and I will address your unique situation, needs and goals, which you bring to therapy. I will listen very carefully and attentively to your presenting problem and together with you, we will plan a course of therapy that is most suitable for your situation and your needs. This may include addressing where appropriate, your feelings, thoughts, behaviours, interpersonal, occupational, existential (where you find meaning in life) and spiritual functioning, as well as physical health.

I offer individually tailored treatments in accordance with your child’s needs with the goal of restoring good health and happiness to their everyday life. My therapy process helps your child and may also include appropriate involvement for you or other family members. Depending upon the presenting problem and after discussion with both parent and the child/teenager, I will recommend an appropriate assessment and/or course of individual therapy, play therapy and/or hypnotherapy. Parent guidance and family therapy may also be recommended as an appropriate inclusion depending on the nature of the problem.

Hypnosis is a natural process that can occur spontaneously in a person. The Greek translation of Hypnosis is Hypnos which means ‘to sleep’. During this ‘sleep-like’ process it is usual to feel very relaxed however, hypnosis is not the same as sleep. It is not like an anaesthetic; you do not “pass out” and are not unconscious. Nor do you lose control over your mind or your feelings. You do not weaken or surrender your will to any other person and in fact, your will-power may be strengthened with hypnosis. As such all hypnosis is self hypnosis. Hypnosis is a safe and effective way to teach people how to manage their own responses, how to take the edge off their symptoms, how to improve their focus, manage their anxiety or depression and improve the quality of their lives.
